Jack AmmonJack passed peacefully at home on the South Fork surrounded by family. Being the true cowboy he was, he went without flashing lights or fanfare. Jack was the second son of Wesley and Dolores (D.D.) Ammon. He was a wild kid who loved to raise hell. All his stories reflected what he considered a wonderful life. He only had funny, good memories of his friends and family. Even his stories of Vietnam were the good ones and would make his listeners laugh. Jack chose to be happy and remember good times; he never dwelled on negativity and couldn’t understand why anyone would.

In 1999 he moved to Happy Camp, Ca to live with his aunt Lola and cousins Jeff and Amanda, that’s how his life of being part of the river communities started.

28-21 Obit (Carmeson) WEBRobert Francis Carmesin, AKA Carm/Buddy went to be with the Lord on May 16, 2022 at 8:30 a.m. He fought a valiant battle against Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s, a progressive neuromuscular disease. He passed away peacefully in his sleep at home in Mckinleyville, and gave love to each and every person as he said farewell in the weeks prior.

The story was when Sydney was lying in bed with her parents, their dad told her that she was no longer going to be the baby since he had been kicked in the back by Carmen who was in her Momma’s belly. Carmen was born on Friday the 13th according to her mom, but the Government put her date as the 12th. She never knew that until she was applying for her passport, and they made her go get an official birth certificate to get the “correct” date.

Nancy Sylvies SimmonsNancy Sylvies-Simmons of Orleans passed away on June 6, 2023. She was born on June 21, 1940 in LA to her Father Eugene Sylvies and her grandparents who raised her Kenneth and Cecil Sylvies. She grew up with her two siblings Kenneth and Carolyn. The Sylvies family later relocated to the Salmon River where Nancy spent the majority of her adolescent years.

Irene was the eldest of nine children between her parents. Irene moved to Hoopa, California 1962, living in Jackson’s Trailer court. Irene attended Hoopa Valley High School and worked at the Hoopa Jolly Cone.

Norm was a son, grandson, big brother, nephew, cousin, avid community member, athlete, coach, and friend. He was especially known for his gift of gab, taking care of his aunties, and for having a big heart that was full of love for his friends and family. Throughout his life he created many strong bonds and friendships with people throughout the states that all shared his love of hunting, fishing, and sports. He poured his heart into his family and would do anything to make sure they were taken care of and provided for. His contagious laugh and boisterous personality will be greatly missed.
